Portuguese School

The “Escola Portuguesa de Hudson” was founded in October 1981 by a group of Portuguese parents who wanted to ensure that their children learned the language of their parents and grandparents.
Originally, the classes were held in the evening at one of the Hudson public schools.  With the building of the new club in 2005, the school moved to the cultural center.  The school is funded by parents and supported by the Hudson Portuguese Club.
Currently there are two teachers running two classes, each class having their own teacher and learning space. The classes are divided based based on age of the children.  Class is held every week night on Tuesday and Wednesday during the regular school year.  When youngsters complete the sixth and ninth grades, they take an examination, and if they pass it, they can get the equivalency grade in Portugal.
The school has helped hundreds of second and third generation Portuguese-Americans attain fluency and literacy in the Portuguese language.
Classes are held twice per peek, on Tuesdays and Wednesday, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Classes are for school age children from Kindergarten to 10th Grade and cost $30 for members and $40 for non members per child per month.
